How to Opt-out of Personalized Advertising

Any Etsy member can opt out of third-party personalized advertising on Etsy. Personalized advertising is also known as interest-based advertising, and it enables advertisers to reach Etsy members based on their interests and demographics. 

To opt out of personalized advertising with an Etsy account:

1. Sign in to Etsy.com and go to Your account.
2. Go to Account settings.
3. Go to Privacy.
4. Scroll down to Personalized Advertising under Privacy Settings.
5. Toggle Personalized Advertising to Off. If you're in the EU, this will be turned off by default. 
6. Select Update settings.

If you would like to opt out of personalized advertising but don’t have an Etsy account, scroll down and select Privacy Settings in the footer of most pages on Etsy.com.

I'm a resident of California. Can I opt out of the “sale” of my data?

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents are entitled to opt out of the “sale” of their data at any time. Etsy does not "sell" personal information to third parties as that term is traditionally understood. However, the term “sale” is defined broadly under the California Consumer Privacy Act to include third-party disclosures of personal information to enable personalized advertising. You can opt out of personalized advertising by following the instructions above.

Residents of California and Colorado can also opt out of personalized advertising by enabling the Global Privacy Control from supported browsers or extensions. If you visit an Etsy page and we see that you have the Global Privacy Control setting turned on, we’ll automatically opt you out of personalized advertising.

To opt back in to personalized advertising:

1. Visit Etsy.com from a browser that does not have the Global Privacy Control setting turned on. 
2. Sign in to Etsy.com and go to Your account.
3. Go to Account settings.
4. Go to Privacy.
5. Scroll down to Personalized Advertising under Privacy Settings.
6. Toggle Personalized Advertising back to On. 
7. Select Update settings. 

You can also change your personalized advertising settings without logging into your Etsy account by: 

1. Visit Etsy.com from a browser that does not have the Global Privacy Control setting turned on. 
2. Scroll to the bottom of the page. 
3. Under Help, select Privacy / Do not sell my personal info. 
4. Toggle Personalized Advertising on or off.
5. Select Done.

How do I exercise my rights under GDPR?

For Etsy members in the European Union and EEA, you're opted out of personalized advertising by default unless you opt in. To opt in, go to your Privacy tab under Account settings and toggle Personalized Advertising to On.
