If you use one of the shipping carriers mentioned below, you can purchase a shipping label right on Etsy, which can be printed from the comfort of your own home or office. This means less time at the post office, access to some postage discounts, and you can easily request refunds for unused labels.
When available, using shipping labels purchased on Etsy positively impacts your Star Seller shipping score.

How do I buy shipping labels on Etsy?
To buy shipping labels on Etsy:
- Sign in to Etsy.com and go to Shop Manager.
- Go to Orders.
- Find the order you want to buy a shipping label for.
- Select the icon of a van to purchase a shipping label.
- Under Get shipping labels for, check that your address is correct. If you need to update your address, select Edit.
- Under Ship to on the right side of the page, check that the buyer’s address is correct. If you need to update their address, select Edit.
- Fill out the Shipping information for the package. Once you enter your package details, you can save them to create a new shipping preset and automatically fill this information in future labels.
- If you’re shipping this order internationally, fill out the customs form.
- Select Review to view a summary of your purchase.
- Select Purchase.
- Confirm the documents you’d like to print. Select Customize options to specify a download preference for your label(s).
After your purchase is finished, a shipping notification is sent to your buyer, and your order is Complete. You can then print your shipping label.
To see all your purchased labels, select View purchased labels from your Completed orders tab.
If you bought a shipping label by accident or no longer need it, you can request a refund for unused, unscanned labels.
What information is required when I purchase a shipping label?
The shipping information helps us give you an accurate estimate for the cost of your shipping label.
- Package weight: The weight of the package.
- Package type: The Package type depends on how you package the order.
- Length, Width, Height: The physical dimensions of your package. Fill out the package length, width, and height.
- Delivery service: The delivery service determines how quickly the order ships to the buyer, and affects the price of shipping.
What customs information is required when I purchase an international shipping label?
When purchasing an international label, you must supply the weight, value, and an accurate customs description for each item in this order. This weight and value will be used to calculate the package's totals for customs. You can also add an optional tariff number.
Documentation requirements vary by service and destination. Be sure to confirm what is needed on the carrier's site before sending. It’s your responsibility to ensure the required information is completed.

How do I buy a label with calculated shipping?
Sellers using USPS or Canada Post can use calculated shipping on Etsy. With calculated shipping, the package details you set are automatically imported into the shipping label purchase page.
To buy a shipping label created with calculated shipping, double-check the details and select Confirm and buy. You can edit the package details for your orders before purchasing your label.
Do shipping labels expire?
Shipping labels expire if they’re not used within a time frame set by your selected mail carrier. You can refund shipping labels prior to their expiration. Purchase a new shipping label if your original one expires and you still need to ship the corresponding order.

Why am I unable to purchase or print a shipping label?
There are a few reasons you may be unable to purchase or print a shipping label:
- You may be located in a country where we don’t offer shipping labels. We offer shipping labels for sellers in Australia, Canada, the UK, and the US.
- If you’re trying to create a label from the order notification in your email, make sure that you’re signed in to the correct Etsy account.
- The address in your shipping label contains emojis or special characters (ñ, é, ü, etc.). Remove these characters and try again.
- The address is in a language that uses characters outside of the Latin alphabet (a, b, c, etc.). Translate the address into a compatible language.
- The address is longer than your selected mail carrier’s character limits. To allow for additional space, abbreviate when possible.
- The package size and weight don't match carrier limits. Adjust your package size or weight.
- Your payment method is not valid for purchasing shipping labels. Try a different payment method.
If you still have trouble, contact support or purchase a shipping label from a shipping carrier online or at your local post office.
Why can’t I access the Shipping Label Options page?
There are a couple of reasons why you may not see the Shipping Labels Options page in Shop Manager:
- You’re a seller located outside of the US. In this case, you can control shipping label options during the label purchasing process.
- You need to complete shipping label onboarding. Select Get shipping label on an order’s receipt page to start the process.
Why does my custom order have free shipping when it shouldn't?
If you sold a custom order and the buyer wasn’t charged for shipping, you may have opted into a Free Shipping Guarantee. A Free Shipping Guarantee applies to your entire shop and overrides any shipping fee added to a custom order.
If you’re a seller in the US, Canada, Australia, or the UK, you can purchase shipping labels on Etsy.
Here are answers to some common questions about shipping labels:
How to buy a shipping label on EtsyYou can buy a shipping label from your Orders tab on Etsy.com. Select Get labels next to the order you want to buy a label for.
You can’t currently purchase labels through the Etsy Seller app.
To request a refund for a shipping label purchased on Etsy:
- In your Shop Manager, go to Orders.
- If you don't see the order in the first tab, select Completed.
- Select Refund under the shipping label number on your order.
If you don’t see the Refund button, your label can’t be refunded.
Refunds can be requested from Etsy.com, but not from the Etsy Seller app.

If you can’t solve the problem with creating a shipping label for this order, you can purchase a shipping label from a shipping carrier online or at your local post office.
If you need to reprint a shipping label, select Print under the order’s tracking number in your Orders tab.
You can download and reprint a shipping label until the end of the label’s shipping date.
If the shipping date has passed, you may be able to request a refund for that label and then buy a new label.
Some shipping labels you can purchase through Etsy come with insurance. You can also buy additional coverage for most types of packages.
You may receive an email notifying you that your shipping label cost was adjusted. This means that the shipping carrier measured different dimensions or weight than you recorded on the shipping label.
If you believe that an adjustment is an error, you can dispute the adjustment.
